The 60-second ballpark

Four questions, no contact info required, and the output is the same published pricing everyone gets. This is a planning range, not a quote: the exact number needs eyes on your home, and that visit is free.

What did they say needs replacing?

How old is the system?

Does it still run at all?

Has anyone tested the ducts?

The published ranges, in the open

These are the numbers the ballpark above is built from, straight from the published menu. Ranges shown are for the common 3-ton residential size; smaller homes trend below them, larger homes above, and the exact figure is confirmed in writing, free, before anything is scheduled.

AC replacement

  • AC system, 14 SEER2, 3-ton: $6,800–$8,400 (standard residential, single-stage)
  • AC system, 16 SEER2, 3-ton: $7,800–$9,400 (two-stage, quieter, better humidity control)
  • Heat pump system, 3-ton: $9,800–$14,200 (heating and cooling in one unit)
  • Smart thermostat upgrade: $240–$420

Furnace and heating replacement

  • Gas furnace, 80% AFUE: $4,400–$6,200 (standard, like-for-like)
  • Gas furnace, 96% AFUE: $5,800–$7,800 (high efficiency, lower bills)
  • Heat pump system: $9,800–$14,200

Mini-splits

  • Single-zone system, installed: $3,900–$5,400 (one indoor head, one outdoor unit)
  • Dual-zone system, installed: $7,200–$9,800 (two rooms, one outdoor unit)

A full changeout replaces both sides at once: added together, the published AC and furnace ranges span $11,200 to $17,200, and a combined project is quoted exactly, free, in writing. Financing and current rebates are covered on the financing page and the rebates page, where we keep the honest status of every program.

How the free second opinion works

  1. You call, text, or send the quote. A photo of the paperwork texted to (661) 374-0624 works fine, and Mike reads those personally. You can also just tell us what they said.
  2. We look at the system, not the paperwork. A technician who earns no commission checks what is actually failing. About 6 in 10 times, the honest answer is a repair with a published flat price, not a replacement.
  3. You get a written verdict. If it really is done, you get our exact install quote from the published ranges. If their quote was fair, we say so in writing, and you can sign it with a clear conscience. Either way you now have two professional opinions instead of one salesman's.

The guarantee that makes this real: if the other company's diagnosis and price are fair, we will tell you to take them. In writing. Our technicians are paid the same either way, which is the only compensation structure where that sentence can be true.

We run second opinions across Kern County: Bakersfield, Oildale, Delano, Arvin, Lamont, Wasco, Shafter, McFarland, Rosedale, Taft, Tehachapi, Buttonwillow, Lake Isabella, and Frazier Park. No travel charge anywhere on the map.

Straight answers

Is my AC replacement quote fair?

Compare it against published numbers. Our install ranges are on this page and on the services pages, the same for every customer: AC systems $6,800 to $9,400 depending on tier, gas furnaces $4,400 to $7,800, heat pumps $9,800 to $14,200, mini-splits from $3,900. A quote far outside those ranges is not automatically a scam, since homes and equipment differ, but it is a very good reason to get a free second look before signing.

Should I get a second opinion before replacing my HVAC system?

On a four- or five-figure decision, almost always. About 6 in 10 systems we are asked to replace turn out to need a repair instead, most often a specific failed part with a published flat price. A second opinion costs nothing here, comes in writing, and if the original quote is fair we will say exactly that.

What does the second opinion cost?

Nothing. Replacement evaluations and install quotes are free visits. The $89 diagnostic only applies when we diagnose a repair, and it is waived when you book that repair with us.

What if your second opinion agrees with the other company?

Then we tell you their diagnosis was right, in writing, and you can proceed with whoever you trust most on price and workmanship. Our technicians earn no commission, so nobody here is paid to find a different answer. Sometimes the honest second opinion is that the first opinion was correct.

Do you give second opinions outside Bakersfield?

Two opinions beat one salesman

The visit is free, the verdict is written, and 6 in 10 times it saves you a replacement you did not need.
