What Oildale work is actually like
Oildale sits just across the Kern River from our shop, close enough that it is effectively a home game. The housing stock runs older than metro Bakersfield: a lot of homes from the 50s through the 70s, smaller footprints, and ductwork that has been patched more than once. We still find swamp coolers here, some running, some abandoned on the roof next to the AC that replaced them. That mix rewards a repair-first shop: undersized returns and leaky ducts get blamed on a dying unit more often than they should, and about 60% of the replacements we are called for turn out to be repairs. We diagnose the duct side before we ever talk tonnage.
